The World’s First 16-MW Offshore Wind Project in Fujian
In July 2023, CTG installed the world’s first 16-megawatt offshore wind turbine in Fujian Province, China.
The 16 MW wind turbine, the largest single wind turbine in the world, is equipped with a 146-meter hub that stands as tall as a 50-story building. It has an impeller with a diameter of 252 meters, making it the largest in the world and also the lightest per megawatt weight.
This turbine can significantly enhance the efficiency of offshore wind power construction and lower electricity costs. Its estimated annual power output, averaging over 66 million kWh, can meet the energy needs of 36,000 households with three members each year, resulting in savings of 22,000 tonnes of standard coal, and a reduction of 54,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions.
