Kubuqi PV Base Project
The 2 GW photovoltaic project in the Kubuqi Desert, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, has completed the installation of all solar panels.
The project aims to help control desertification while also bringing wealth to locals. As China's largest single solar project for desert control at present, it is expected to generate 4.1 billion kWh of clean energy annually, saving 1.25 million tonnes of standard coal, and reducing carbon emissions by 3.94 million tonnes.
The project also strives to restore and manage 16,470 acres of desert while reducing sand transport to the Yellow River by 2 million tonnes.
