The project, located in the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, is a pilot project that uses local solar power to generate hydrogen. It’s China’s first 10,000-tonne-level new-energy-based hydrogen production project, which started producing hydrogen in 2023.

The local solar project has an annual power generation capacity of 740 million kilowatt hours.

While 20 percent of the power generated by the project will be connected to the local grid, 80 percent will be used for hydrogen production.
